Client: Wild Skies Shetland, November 2022-23
CMC was appointed by Wild Skies Shetland (WSS) in Unst to undertake the content development, design and production of interpretation based around a 13-stop Sky Trail. The client’s aim was to offer an outstanding visitor experience by promoting, celebrating and interpreting the skies from the unique Shetland perspective – at 60 degrees north.
Our team developed a tour of must-see locations around the island where visitors can get information about different aspects of the skies, whether this is weather, folklore, astronomy, history or Norse mythology, as well as getting a taste of the local dialect. There are on-site graphic panels and audio listening posts that link via QR codes to the web site www.wildskiesshetland.com which gives much more detailed information for each stop, including an animation about Norse Constellations and ‘how the stars came to be’. You can watch it here https://youtu.be/xBdaFV1GCVs
Right from their excellent proposal document, we were confident that CMC would provide us with attractive and informative materials for our Sky Trail. We were not disappointed, enjoying excellent communication, quality products and good value for money. Our trail embraces outdoor panels, talking posts, an animation, VR and information obtained through QR codes. Everything was done with attention to detail and a strong, stylish brand. Wild Skies Shetland is run entirely by volunteers, and CMC fully accommodated our foibles and needs! Strongly recommended.
