Birr Castle has been the home of the Parsons family for nearly four centuries. Their achievements in the fields of astronomy, photography and engineering are celebrated here in the refurbished Science Centre. CMC and their partners have produced a new incarnation of the Galleries of Discovery providing an educational facility that sparks visitors’ interest. With effective interpretive planning our team set out to tell the story of the remarkable people whose curiosity drove them to push new boundaries. The vibrant scientific heritage of Birr can be explored through the resulting exhibition, which includes a variety of objects, graphic panels, 3D animations, large-scale interactive maps and audio-visual displays.
